 YNPN’s Night at the Guthrie

Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 7:30 PM

Did you know that after New York, Minnesota has the most theaters per capita in the country?

Join YNPN on June 4 for a night at one of the most well-known theaters in Minnesota. The Guthrie Theater has generously partnered with us for a discounted viewing of Clybourne Park. This Pulitzer Prize and 2012 Tony Award-winning satiric comedy dealing with race and class is a response to Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun.
That’s not all, folks. Join YNPN for the after party at Aloft Minneapolis hotel, where select cast members from the play will also be attending, and DJ Marinos of On the Corner will be spinning some sweet jams. There will be happy hour drink specials, along with a free drink ticket valid for a tap beer that comes with your ticket to the play.

So this great night out must be expensive, right? Not even close. For YNPN attendees only, you’ll get the play, after party (with cast!) and drink ticket for only $10. Tickets for the Clybourne Park performance alone normally start at $35. What’s the catch? There is none! We just hope you’ll come join us and help make this night amazing.

To be part of this great event, you’ll need to make your reservations with the Guthrie.

It’s super easy to get this great deal – it’s just three simple steps:

1. Call the Guthrie Theater at 612-377-2224
2. Ask for the “YNPN” offer for the performance of Clybourne Park
3. Have your credit/debit card ready to pay over the phone. A $0.25 handling fee may apply.

That’s it! We’ll give you your performance ticket and drink ticket when you arrive at the Guthrie Theater on the 4th. There is no online purchase option for this event. You may order more than one ticket with this offer if you are purchasing for a group.

More about Clybourne Park: Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play, Bruce Norris’ satiric comedy deals with race and class in response to Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun. The play begins in 1959 as a black family moves into a white neighborhood in north Chicago, and in Act Two takes us to the same house in 2009 as gentrification sets in and the roles are reversed. Jokes fly and hidden agendas unfold as two generations tiptoe through social politics, pitting race against real estate. The New York Times hailed it “ferociously smart” and Variety raved, “Yes, it’s dangerous and provocative, but pulverizingly funny to boot!”   The Guthrie Theater, founded in 1963, is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training. By presenting both classical literature and new work from diverse cultures, the Guthrie illuminates the common humanity connecting Minnesota to the peoples of the world.
